Me
I'm Graeme Elliott; I created F.Oh.Oh.D to try and help people learn new things about food, as well as realise that cooking can be simple, quick and most importantly cheaper and healthier than ready meals or take aways.
Ohhhh...
I don’t know if I was that incessant kid that always asked why, or whether it was my cleverly logic minded dad that instilled in me the importance of understanding how something works.
We never stop learning,
The more questions we ask,
the better we become
I was fortunate enough to grow up having a good understanding of food, which mostly came from my mum and school. I put little value in it at the time, until I learnt the importance of how our diet affects our health. I see more and more that there is a massive gap in people's understanding of food and I wanted to help change that.
As well as my Level 3 NVQ in Professional Cookery, I have a Level 3 award in Training and Education.
I have always cooked and from working in various places and constantly researching food, I've gathered the knowledge to allow me to be free with food, though I never stop learning and improving.
I'm a dad of two little ones so I don't always have time to create, but my food knowledge has massively helped me stay in control of at least this part of life! I believe you get out what you put in, so I try to cook fresh food for my family as often as I can, which means it needs to be quick and enjoyable. I'm not a food narcissist and I still eat occasional 'junk food' and microwave food. Food can taste good however you or someone else makes it. It is the understanding of it that helps you become more empowered, which then helps you to make the better choice when you want to.
I've created these experiences for fun and learning but they are filled with skills, knowledge and techniques that will help you in every day cooking. I don't want you to just come and make something for the fun of it; I want you to be able to make it all the time and love doing it.
Though all the experiences are mainly created around adults, I am DBS checked for working with younger learners and adapt what I do to engage with them.
We moved to Hinckley in 2018 and love it here. There are so many great independent shops and businesses in this town, which if you find the time to look, make it a great place to live. Situated in Leicestershire and on the edge of Warwickshire, I am easily accessible throughout the Midlands.
My end goal is not to show you how to cook a meal but to help you feel confident with food and the ingredients you use on a regular basis. All of my experiences at their core are built on the basics and use only things you have in the kitchen already, or are easily available from anywhere.
Don't like something or never want to use it? Then we change it up to what you do like. You do all the making, cooking, eating and learning, so you walk away excited to keep cooking.
Your Experience
All Experiences take place at my house in Hinckley, unless arranged otherwise.
The private experience you book can be just for you, or for a group of up to 6 people (depending on the experience). The cost is the same, £100 for a one to one experience, or £60per person for 2 or more people. Once the experience is booked, it's all yours.
For more information on how other Experiences work, please look at the FAQs
There is off-road parking available for 3 cars, and more on the road if needed.
Experiences start from 0930 and end around 1300, though can go over if you need more time. Evening Experiences start at 1900 and end at 2130.
As with all Experiences, they are tailored around you and your group. If you have any special requests, I can work with you to accommodate them.
If you have any questions or ideas of something you'd like to do outside of what is on offer, please get in touch. I'll always be learning and developing new ideas.
