Understand Food - Cooking Lessons

No one is born knowing how to do anything other than our natural bodily instincts. Throughout our lives we gain knowledge from those that raise us and educate us, but if we're not taught something, then we do not know it.
If no one teaches us how to ride a bike we can live perfectly well, however cooking is odd, because we all need to eat and therefore all feel like we must dabble in it somewhere along the way. We pick up bits of information from different places and at some point, we feel we could give it a good go, then we either do well enough to keep trying or fall a bit flat and give up.
Beginners
These lessons are not designed to show you how to make a specific dinner or recipe, but to understand your ingredients, learning how and why to cook them.
Once you're empowered with that knowledge, you can make your own recipes with the confidence to cook what you like.
In each session, you will learn skills based around each topic through hands-on making and tailored, verbal instructions. We will start working with and learning a base set of ingredients and end with you bringing that knowledge together to make meals.
At the end of each session, you will go away with the base of, or all of your meal.
Novice
These sessions are for people who are confident enough to get by in the kitchen but want to step up their game and make cooking an enjoyable, easy task, rather than a chore. Come and learn some new skills that can give you the extra power to cook without having to think so much.
From learning preparation and holding skills, to different and more effective ways of cooking to save you time but increasing quality, we will develop what you already know and add that extra bit of understanding to help make cooking a breeze.

Sessions can be run for all dietary needs
Sessions are 1hr - 1hr 30mins
£40 per session and can be run at an arranged time
Sessions take place in my at my home unless agreed otherwise and can be done weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Suggested ten sessions, but we can do as little or as much as you like.
Lessons include all ingredients, equipment and the food you make to take away.
